Amber Absolute is Tom Ford's original 2007 Private Blend amber: honeyed, smoky and resinous, with frankincense drifting over a dense base of labdanum and vanilla. Composed by Christophe Laudamiel, it keeps its list of notes short. African frankincense opens it with a dry, church-like smoke, amber and dry woods fill the middle, and labdanum and vanilla give it a sticky, golden sweetness that deepens for hours. Reviewers still name it among the sweetest and heaviest ambers Tom Ford has made. The original has since been discontinued; the 2019 Reserve Collection version is a separate release that many wearers find lighter.
